J Napoleon - The Locals

The LOCALS - showcasing creatives that survived and are thriving in San Francisco, the most beautiful city on the West Coast. But I hear it all the time.

“San Francisco is a tech town. It lost it’s personality. There’s no culture or “scene” anymore. It’s so expensive (it fucking is). The money chased all the creatives away. San Francisco lacks an art scene. There’s no where cool to hang out anymore.”

That is mostly true because artists, artisans, eccentric locals don’t make a ton of cash. Most of the time it’s not what drives us to create. Yes, the tech scene drove up the prices and chased the artists/creatives away AND tech took over what jobs and talent were offered or found here. There’s practically no other industry. But ultimately LOCALS like Jose, who’s a generational San Franciscan still fought for their piece of the world here. And collectively not all of us cut and run. We’re here. Working and making epic shit. Sexy, stylish and we’re not going anywhere. So join us.

Just walking around town with J we were stopped or waved at multiple times. You gotta love people that other people take the time to wave too. They’re just magnets that you want to orbit because they feel like home.

Aside from making killer coffee he’s been working on capturing and editing his own films. Love catching an artist when they’re just starting out. Watching someone grow into a craft is a film in itself.
