Robyn Woodman - The LOCALS
An artist takes many shapes and forms. We always stereotype who artists are, how they dress, speak, and WHAT they should feel or not feel. Like we’re some tragedy that rose out of the ashes. And most of the time you’re fucking right. But I love a good challenger of what we think is the norm.
This week we challenge those "types" and I proudly introduce my favorite happen to meet by split second chance Robyn Woodman, a writer, mood and music compilation tamer and program manager at Stanford. She is none of the stereotypes other than yeah, she’s lived quite a life to get where she is.
It is ONLY my opinion but creative people have this sense of adventure that turns into a hilarious portfolio of talents. In a way creativity is adventure, because it must wildly find it's own way. Or maybe we’re just naturally curious leading us to different crafts, travels, jobs. All who wander don’t get on a plane. We weave through craft, after hobby, after thing without ever having to lift off the ground sometimes.
And that is Robyn. Her life doesn't follow in a successive path, or adhere to typical notions of worldliness (although she has lived in Italy). There is no ladder she seems to climb or needs to climb in order to be fulfilled. She turns, weaves, ducks, runs and chops through life like one giant fucking safari explorer. And I crave that about her.
Outside her Palo Alto home but she also calls parts of Italy home as well. People who live abroad tend to feel stronger, hold themselves with more strength. I think it’s because they’ve seen there’s more than one way to live.
Robyn took me on a tour of her favorite farmers market. After grabbing coffee at an Italian coffee roasters she heads home to compile a personal call to greatness. It’s called The Sunday collection. I won’t bother describing. Why don’t you use some of that artisy curiosity and find out this Sunday. @robynwoodman
Thanks for sharing your Sunday with me Robyn. Can’t wait to read your book when you finish!
